Aingeal Rose and I hope you are able to spend some quality time with those you love and who love you. Many are not able to spend physical time with family and friends because of what’s going on in the world. We hope you’re able to share at least a phone call or Zoom session so you can shower your blessings on them.

Many people remark on what’s wrong in the world right now. We find it more comforting to focus on how grateful we are for what we already have, no matter how big or small. That’s why we want to share a few Irish blessings with you.

Ireland has an endless amount of Irish blessings. Irish blessings are commonly used in wedding ceremonies, family gatherings and other special occasions. So many blessings have been uttered over the millennia that there is now an Irish blessings for almost every life event.

It is interesting that coming from a sometimes tragic history, the general theme of most Irish blessings is seeing the positive side of a bad situation, or celebrating the best parts of happy one. Today, everyone is aware of the importance of a positive mindset on both our mental and physical health. We Irish say these blessings in gratitude, sometimes to attract more of what we really want in life, and sometimes just for the heck of it. We think you’ll agree that the three Irish blessings below will brighten your day and bless you with love in abundance.

“May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!”

Here’s another we chose out of the infinity of Irish blessings:

May your neighbors respect you,
Trouble neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.
May you have the hindsight
to know where you’ve been,
the foresight to know where you’re going
and the insight to know
when you’re going too far.

Most blessings are short. This one is longer but easier to remember because it has a catch rhyme and deep meaning to it:

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.
Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.
Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

We encourage you to use these blessings as often as you like so you stay in touch with all the blessings you already have despite what’s going on in the world right now. We believe that blessing others will also bless you too.
